The Justice has issued a life sentence to Alan Funes, a prominent member of the narcocriminal gang "Los Funes" from Rosario. Funes was convicted for having instigated the murder of a 21-year-old young woman from prison, who was shot in the head. Alongside Alan Funes, Ariel GutiƩrrez also received the same sentence as the material author of the crime, while Ulises Chapire, who drove the motorcycle from which the assassin escaped, was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The sentence was handed down by a court in room ten of the Criminal Justice Center, consisting of judges Ismael Manfrin, Fernando Sosa, and Silvana Lamas. The three accused were tried for their participation in the homicide of Mariel Lezcano, who was shot at point-blank range on October 13, 2021, when she opened the door of her house in Rosario. According to the ruling, Alan Funes ordered the crime from Ezeiza prison in exchange for money.
The attack was initially aimed at the victim's mother, known as "La Paquete," who refused to sell drugs for the criminal organization. The young woman's mother had been threatened to manage the sale of drugs through a kiosk, but she rejected the idea for fear of becoming involved in more problems related to the illicit drug trade.
